oo many people want the iPad in the US, so UK launch is delayed

UK users wanting to get their hands on an Apple iPad are going to have to wait, after the company announced the global launch would be delayed by one month.

Seemingly surprised by the iPads popularity, Apple has admitted that it will be unable to meet US demand if it starts selling the tablet in other countries.

"Although we have delivered more than 500,000 iPads during its first week, demand is far higher than we predicted and will likely continue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks as more people see and touch an iPad. We have also taken a large number of pre-orders for iPad 3G models for delivery by the end of April," said Apple in an official statement.

The iPad will now go on sale in the UK at the end of may, with pricing and pre-orders commencing on Monday 10th May.

Until then, if you want an iPad, there are a couple of options. First, a couple of UK resellers are selling the tablet at ludicrous prices. Secondly, you can buy the US iPad directly.

If you do buy the US version, you'll be unable to access the App store and pay via credit card, unless you have a card registered in the US. An alternative is to register for a non-pay account and pay for downloads using vouchers instead.
